De Colgar Tomato Seeds
Info: The De Colgar tomato is a Spanish variety which was bred in particular to be suitable for long periods of storage. In English, "De Colgar" means "to hang / suspend", and the tomatoes stay for a relatively long time on their panicles. They should not be harvested when fully ripened, rather they should be harvested when necessary and wrapped, for example, with ripe apples or bananas in newspaper. The plants are very high yielding and develop a variety of round, red, approx. 70 g in weight, burst-resistant fruits. They have a full-bodied tomatoey flavour and are usable in a variety of ways.
Care: You can grow the De Colgar tomatoes inside the house, in a greenhouse or outdoors. The optimal germination temperature is between 20 and 25°C, and germination occurs after 8 - 14 days. You can speed up the germination process if you leave the seeds to soak overnight in a damp cloth. You should wait until after the last frost to plant your chosen plants.
Tomatoes need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil which is kept moist (but not wet!). They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more.
