Pumpkin Yellow Bush Scallop Seeds
Info: `Yellow Bush Scallop` is originally also known as "Pattypan squash" due to the resemblance to antique, scalloped, pie plates. This vining, good producer of yellow, scalloped fruit will spread out wide, so plant spacing needs to be remembered. The flesh has a creamy texture, is very flavourful and great freid or baked. The fruits are best picked and eaten at 10 cm diameter, in this size they can be eaten with skin, lager squashs can be stored for weeks, but must be peeled before preparation.
Sowing & cultivation: Pumpkin plants need a lot of space as creeping plants and a good nutrient supply. The soil should therefore be profound and nutritious. From mid-May can be sown directly into the open field. Depending on the variety a plant needs up to 2m² of space. Abundant irrigation is very important, especially in the beginning. A typical pumpkin problem are snails. Try as protection a thick ring of sawdust around the young plant. It should be fertilized with a few horns, four weeks later with full fertilizer. The harvest begins in September and lasts until the frost.
