Inferno Chili Seeds
Information: In spite of its name, the Inferno Chili is not an extremely hot chili variety. This highly fertile plant grows a huge number of heavy chili peppers, so heavy in fact that the branches sometimes break off from the weight of the peppers and need to be supported. The peppers ripen from green to red and stand out from the rest thanks to their pleasant, sweet and fruity flavour. The 10-15cm long peppers have a thick flesh and taste fantastic used in salads or dips. Sometimes, only certain parts of the peppers are spicy, but it can be very strong in these areas.
Care: Germination temperature is between 22°C and 28°C (germination period: 6-20 days); it is therefore recommended to use a greenhouse and a heating mat. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised permeable soil and should not be left in standing water. They should be placed in a sunny, sheltered place with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day, if not more. Place the plants outside around 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost. When you plant the seedlings outdoors, take care to leave at least 30-40cm of space between each plant.
You can find plenty of useful tips for successfully growing chili plants in our Chili Growing Guide and in the Chili Journal.

How to use
Cut off the top and carefully remove all the seeds. You do not need either of these any more. Boil the inferno chilies in a solution of sugar, vinegar and water (1 litre water, 1 tablespoon sugar, 3 tablespoons vinegar) for one minute. Remove from the solution and drain well. Prepare the filling using cream cheese, a little crushed garlic and a pinch of salt (caution: many cream cheese products already contain salt). Use a piping bag to fill the inferno chilies and layer them in a bowl or preserving jar. Fill the container with olive oil until the chilies are completely covered. Can be kept in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks. Prior to eating, the oil must first warm up until it becomes completely liquid once more. The same recipe also tastes fantastic with fresh green jalapeños.
