NuMex Sunset Chili Seeds
Info: The NuMex Sunset Chili was bred by the Chili Pepper Institute of the New Mexico State University (NuMex). Together with two other varieties in orange and brown (sunset and eclipse) they were developed especially for making coloured Ristras. The chilies are long, crunchy and have a good, lightly sweet flavour with a mild spiciness. They were bred especially for drying, which they are excellent for, whereas some other chili types rot and decay before they are fully dry. However, they are also good for fresh consumption, salads, grilling and stuffing.
Info: The NuMex Twilight Chili is a breeding of theChile Pepper Institute at New Mexico State University and a real stunner. Countless smal, upstanding chillies grow on bushy plants and mature in a beautiful colour play of the sunset from white, to purple, yellow and orange to red. The pods a re 1 x 2 cm large and very hot and are well suited for sauces, salsas, and for drying. In pots, the plants stay small (about 30 cm) and are ideal for window sills; outdoors they reach heights of 75 cm.
Care: The germination temperature is between 20 und 28°C (8 - 21 day germination period), therefore the use of a greenhouse and a heating mat is recommended. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. Put the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost.
