NuMex Sunrise Chili Seeds
Info: The NuMex Conquistador was bred by the Chili Pepper Institute of the New Mexico State University (NuMex). Together with two other varieties in orange and brown (sunset and eclipse) they were developed especially for making coloured Ristras. The chilies are long, crunchy and have a good, lightly sweet flavour with a mild spiciness, which comes mostly from the seeds. They were bred especially for drying, which they are excellent for, whereas some other chili types rot and decay before they are fully dry. However, they are also good for fresh consumption, salads, grilling and stuffing.
Care: The germination temperature is between 20 und 28°C (7 - 20 day germination period), therefore the use of a greenhouse and a heating mat is recommended. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. Put the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost.
You can find plenty of useful tips for successfully growing chili plants in our Chili Growing Guide and in the Chili Journal.
