Shishito Chili Seeds
Info: The Shishito Chili originates from Japan, where its name means "Lion Head" due to the appearance of the chilies unusual shaped tips. The plants are bushy and can grow up to 1 metre. The fruits are mild, have a pleasant, slightly sweet flavour, and ripen from green to red. The red fruits are considerably spicier than the green ones. In Japan they are traditionally harvested and used when green. They are usually fried hot and served with sea salt, and the thin skin develops blisters. They are also suitable for fresh consumption and for cooking and stuffing.
Care: The germination temperature is between 20 und 28°C (8 - 21 day germination period), therefore the use of agreenhouse and a heating mat is recommended. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. Put the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost.
Tips for successful chili cultivation can be found in our Chili Cultivation Instructions and in the Chili Diary.
