Broccoli Broccoletto Quarantino Riccio Seeds
Info: Broccoletto Quarantino Riccio is a specialty from Italy also known as "Rapini, Raab or Rabe" which is very popular in Italy. The loose, small broccoli like bud clusters grow on long thin shoots and have a slightly sharper flavour than broccoli. Broccoletto grows very quickly and after only about 45 days the small broccoli-like bud clusters can be harvested. It is an ideal catch crop vegetable similar to Kale.
Sowing & Cultivation: Broccoli is easy to grow; for early production, sow in March (1/2 inch deep) for planting April to harvest in summer. For sowing outdoors, sow April to mid June for harvesting in autumn. Broccoli is more cold-resistant than cauliflower. Broccoli grows best in partial-shade, in firm, fertile, free-draining but water-retentive soil. Avoid shallow, sandy soils, and exposed sites. Place the young plants at a minimum distance of 30 cm. When the shoots have grown about a foot high, harvest the buds along with the several leaves growing just under the bud. Keep harvesting to encourage new growth.
