Comfrey Seeds
Info: Common or true comfrey is an ancient medicinal plant with attractive bell-shaped purple flowers that bloom from May to September. The medically active active ingredient Allantoin is found in all plant parts, but predominantly in the root from which the drug is produced. Allantoin is wound healing and bone / cell forming and may only be used externally in the form of compresses. It is used for badly healing wounds, bone fractures, rheumatism, tendinitis inflammations and bruises.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow outdoors as early as possible from February. If growing indoors in pots keep them cool for a few weeks. Comfrey is not suitable for pot culture. Sowing depth 1-2 cm, planting distance 50 cm. Beinwell likes moist, nutrient-rich soil and a half-shady location. It is quite easy to grow and the plants can grow up to 20 years old. Its leaves can be harvested several times a season and used as a compost activator to help breakdown other compost materials.
