Strawberry Sticks Seeds
Info: Strictly speaking, this variety is no strawberry but belongs to the goose foot family like beetroot or mangel. It originates in the US and its fruits look like strawberries or raspberries. It is also known as Strawberry Spinach and bears a very attractive plant with base branching habit producing quantities of light green leaves. The soft young leaves have a nutty flavour can be eaten raw in a mesclun type salad mix or cooked, and are an excellent spinach substitute. Pick and use the leaves straight away, it doesn`t store well in the fridge. The parsnip-like roots are crispy, sweet, and delicious, white but marbled with beet red, with just a hint of beetiness to the taste, and may be consumed fresh or cooked in soups.
Sowing & cultivation: Start sowing in January/February indoors or directly outdoors from end of march. Sowing depth is 12 mm in rows 45 cm apart.
