Evening Primrose Seeds
Info: The red-sepal Evening Primrose has particularly beautiful, up to 6 cm large light yellow flowers with a vanilla scent. Its red buds and red-spotted stems give it its name. The flowers do not open until late afternoon and usually fade by noon the next day. Night flowering makes them an important food plant for moths.
Sowing & care: Sow from the beginning of April in pre-culture, from May outdoors. Just press on the seed. The Rotkelchige Eventkerze is biennial, therefore it blooms only in the 2nd year from June to September. With pre-culture the flowering can take place already in the first year. The evening primrose likes to grow in nitrogen-rich, open places such as fresh fallow land, ruderal fields and roadsides, so it likes a sunny place in the garden on well-drained, nutrient-rich soils.
