Betony / Hedgenettle Seeds
Info: Betony, also called common hedgenettle, is an old, almost forgotten medicinal plant, which also performs well as a decorative flower in the garden. On long stems many of the pretty dark pink labiate blossoms appear in summer, which are also appreciated by bees.
Hedgenettle is said to have a healing effect against diarrhoea, asthma, mucus of the respiratory tract and sore throat. Externally, the healing substance is said to have haemostatic and wound healing properties.
Sowing & Cultivation: Sowing is best from mid-April directly outdoors with a sowing depth of 0.5 cm. Betony likes a sunny to semi-shady location with fresh humus soil and also tolerates some dryness. On a leaf rosette the inflorescences appear, up to 60 cm in size. Small nests form quickly, so that the Betony can also serve as ground cover. The Common Hedgenettle is also well suitable for borders in perennial gardens. Perennial.
