Info: TSweet Pea Heirloom America is - as the name suggests - an American heirloom with gorgeous, large, highly fragrant flowers marbled in cream white and crimson red. It was bred in 1896 and has embellished every farmer`s garden to this day.
The sweet pea is a popular ornamental plant and as a climbing plant a great fence greening. They belong to the papilionaceous family and form beautiful flowers from pink to white to blue. Sweet Peas flower longer if flower shoots for the vase or dead flowers are removed very regularly. When the first seeds ripen, the development of new flowering shoots decreases. Attention: the seeds are poisonous when consumed. The variety Mrs. R. Bolton is a slightly fragrant variety with very beautiful large flowers in magenta to light pink.
Sowing & Cultivation: It is advisable to soak the seeds beforehand or even let them pre-germinate. It is also possible to sow them directly in the field from mid-April, preferably next to a fence. If they have enough space for climbing, they can reach a height of 220 cm. They like a nutrient-rich, permeable soil and a sunny to semi-shade location.
