Information:
The Cow Horn Chili gets its name from the fact that its fruits are reminiscent of cow horns. The plants are bushy, can grow up to 1 metre in height, and develop many of the very long (up to 20 cm) red peppers from the Cayenne variety. The chilies are characterised by their thin fruit walls, winding growth and sweet flavour with a medium level of spiciness. The chilies are usable in a variety of ways, and are suitable for cooking, grilling, frying, pickling, stuffing and drying.

Quality promise:
You get healthy and powerful plants in organic quality. The pre-fertilized plants are approx. 10-15 cm in size, have strong, dark green foliage and a well-rooted soil (delivery in 4 x 4 cm soil block). They are shipped in a tested special packaging, so that they arrive 100% safe and intact.
Important: Water the soil block well before transplanting and fertilize the soil in the new pot with horn meal. Horn meal is a quickly available biological fertilizer, a standard in organic farming. After transplanting, the plant needs 1-2 weeks for the formation of new roots. After then the plant continues to grow. The growth is significantly accelerated by using horn meal. Keep the soil well moist during this time, the soil pot must never dry out, otherwise the roots can be damaged.
Caution: As the plants are grown indoors they are not used to direct sunlight and they can get sunburnt in the sun! In the first 3-4 days, the plant should be gradually accustomed to the sun. Therefore, a semi-shaded place would serve better at the beginning.
Transplanting & pot size: You should use a medium size pot (round pot 10.5 cm, if necessary a pot saucer 11 cm) for the first transplanting. The medium pots can remain indoors on the windowsill until mid-May. Once it has at least 10°C at night, the next transplanting is done into the 9,3L or 14L pot. Please also fertilize the soil with horn meal and ensure a good drainage of irrigation water. Avoid waterlogging. Now the plants can be grown outside in a sunny spot.
We offer pots and saucers in commercial horticulture quality and this at unbeatable prices. Please compare! Pots and saucers
Care: Chillies need lots of sunlight and heat to grow optimally. The basic soil fertilization is done with horn meal. For the weekly fertilization of the irrigation water, we recommend our Organic Chili Fertiliser. Chillies do not tolerate waterlogging (make sure that the irrigation water is drained well!). Chili plants should be placed in a sunny, sheltered place with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day, if not more. Leave the plants outside at the earliest 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost.
Extenting maturation period: As the fruits have a particularly long maturation period, it is recommended to grow them in a pot (at least 10 litres in capacity), so that you can easily bring the plant inside when the temperature falls below 12°C during the day, allowing all the fruits to ripen.
Overwintering: To keep the plant over the winter, cut it back after harvesting by 20 cm and place in a light place where it is at least 15°C.
And here you will get tips on how to overwinter your chili plants.
